More than a basketball.

Children running and playing in a community in the Philippines

Dream in Motion is a community outreach initiative that will deliver 1,000 basketballs to children living in lower socio-economic communities across the Philippines. It began as Andrew's dream, and Aid Meridian is bringing it to life.

Each basketball handover is paired with an engaging, age-appropriate education session that teaches children how to recognise and avoid the tactics used by human traffickers.

Our goal

  • 1,000 basketballs
  • 1,000 children reached
  • 1,000 life-changing safety conversations

Why it matters

Human trafficking continues to target vulnerable communities throughout the Philippines.

Children are often approached through false promises, online grooming, fake jobs, and other forms of exploitation.

By combining sport with prevention education, we create a safe and engaging environment where children can learn practical skills to protect themselves before exploitation occurs.

How the program works

Raise support

Partner with businesses and donors to fund or supply basketballs. If we raise less than the target, we run the program at a smaller scale rather than cut corners.

Visit communities

Aid Meridian identifies communities with increased vulnerability across the Philippines and travels to them directly.

Deliver prevention training

Immediately following the handover, children participate in a trauma-informed, age-appropriate awareness session.

Report back

Partners receive updates, photos (with appropriate consent), and an impact summary showing the communities reached.

Every child receives a basketball.

How we handle content involving kids

Any photos or footage from this program will follow strict child-safety guidelines: consent from a parent, guardian, or community leader first, no identifying details shared without permission, and no content that could put any child at risk. Protecting the kids we work with always comes before a good photo.

Co-founder, this program

I've always wanted to give back to kids in communities like the ones we're going to reach. Life is tough in a lot of these areas, and a basketball isn't going to change that overnight, but it brings a hell of a lot of hope and joy to a kid who picks one up. That's the dream: 1,000 kids, 1,000 balls, and a bit of joy that's theirs.

What means the most to me is what happens after the ball's in their hands. We agreed straight away that this is one of the best ways to reach kids with the messages that actually matter, how to spot the people and situations that lead to trafficking, before it ever gets close to them. If we can get to them while they're smiling, the message sticks.
